Brand awareness is a marketing concept that measures consumers’ knowledge of a brand’s existence. At the aggregate (brand) level, it refers to the proportion of consumers who know of the brand. -Wiki
Why is brand awareness important?
This may seem like a stupid question, everyone says it is important so it must be. Right? Well until the 16th century everyone thought the world was flat, so lets touch on some of the reasons why brand awareness is important.
- If people don’t know about your brand then how are they to buy anything from you.
- The more familiar a customer is with your brand the more likely they are to share information about it with friends and/or make a purchase.
- The higher the brand awareness and positive affiliation with the brand, the easier it is to fend off competition.
- Assuming that the person has a positive impression of the brand.
Going viral with your brand awareness!!!
Facebook is a great medium for reaching out to your potential customers in a personal way which encourages customer feedback, sharing of information, and a positive affiliation with a brand. Because of the real connections of people on Facebook and the simplicity of sharing information with their friends and family is a wonderful platform for potentially going viral with your brand.
Facebook empowers your customers, friends, and neighbors to share information they “like” with people they know. The average person on Facebook has around 130 friends, this means that anything the average person comments on or “Likes” is automatically shared with their 130 friends. If one, two, three or more of their friends comments or “Likes” this information then it is shared with their 130, 260, 410 or “NUMEROUS” friends, respectfully. It is easy to see the potential for going viral and increasing brand awareness by using Facebook to Market one’s company. Additionally, it should be noted that people who have been referred by a friend to a product, service or brand are more likely to make a positive affiliation with that brand, share the information with another friend and ultimately spend money on the brand in question.
