The Professional Website Design Process
Written by: Ryan Flannagan

“I just need a simple website, how hard can that be?”

As a premier Phoenix digital marketing agency specializing in custom B2B website design and development, Nuanced Media understands that a lot of things go into professional web design. Custom, purpose-built websites don’t spring up overnight, and neither do the digital marketing campaigns built around that website.

For us, it starts with research. During our discovery phase, we conduct interviews with our clients, as well as extensive industry and competitive research in order to learn as much as we can about our clients and their business. We take that research and map out a plan of action for designing and developing the website.

What follows over the next eight weeks is an iterative design and development process taking that action plan and turning it into a style tile, wireframes, mockups, and, finally, a fully realized website live on the Internet.

Then the work begins.

Having a website live on the Internet doesn’t do you a lot of good if nobody sees it, right? There are two types of traffic – organic and paid – and Nuanced Media helps drive both to your new site.

On the organic side of things, search engine optimization is a big part of what we do. We base our SEO campaigns around three things: research, on-page optimization, and development of quality backlinks. As with everything we do, the research drives both the on-page optimization and the sourcing of quality backlinks.

Because 35% of organic clicks go to the first three results of a Google search, and 75% of users never scroll past the first page of results, effectively communicating the value of your site to the search engine is vitally important. On-page optimization is how the search engine determines what information is on your site, and the quality backlinks let the search engine know that this information can be trusted.

Another key factor in driving organic search traffic is social sharing. Social media avenues like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, and Pinterest may seem like a useless trend, but users engaging with and sharing your content is another way that helps search engines determine the value of your website. Social sharing and user engagement tells search engines that your content is useful to people; in fact, social shares are one of the main ways Google knows to put recent news stories higher in internet search results.

The other avenue for driving traffic to your site is in paid search, and Nuanced Media is expert at setting up pay-per-click campaigns. Using platforms such as Google Adwords, Facebook, YouTube, Bing, and others, Nuanced Media starts with research to target specific, relevant, cost-effective keywords. We set up effective lead generation pages to drive additional traffic, as well as track how customers are finding your site. We also don’t stop at launch day, either; we continue to iterate and optimize the campaign in order to maximize advertising dollars.

The last tool in our arsenal is called Remarketing. Remarketing is a powerful tool that helps keep your business at the forefront of your customers’ minds. It allows you to “follow” visitors as they navigate off of your site and around the Internet, displaying ads for your site nearly wherever they go.

In this way, we tie the marketing campaign back to your website, which in turn was built around aspects of the marketing campaign. The elements of a successful digital marketing campaign are dependent on each other; nothing stands alone.

Nuanced Media won’t let you stand alone either. Start the conversation.
